A demand has been raised in the Rajya Sabha to convert the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) by a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) member, Sanjiv Kumar.
According to Kumar, around 1500 students of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, are agitating in front of Jantar Mantar and an equal number are protesting at ISM, Dhanbad, demanding that the 86-year-old institute be converted into an IIT.
