NIT Srinagar has programmes in 8 Engineering disciplines including Metallurgy and in Sciences. The most common branches offered by Top Engineering Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir are Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Mechanical Engineering. Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology offers the state’s lone but a fine B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering. A new university, the Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), has a good B.Tech programme in Food Technology apart from the four core disciplines excluding Mechanical Engineering.

GCET Jammu or Government College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu is an engineering institute located in Jammu, J&K, India. It offers the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Sciences, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering. It has been imparting training to engineering students since 1994. This is the first Engineering College from the Jammu region of the J&K.
